The tough go shopping

Remember shopping for something other than groceries? It’s a hazy but fond memory but one that MAD doesn’t want us to forget.

Manhattan’s Museum of Arts and Design hosts “MAD About Jewelry Virtual Trunk Shows” at 3 p.m. on select dates on Zoom. Jewelry enthusiasts and fashionistas will get a behind-the-scenes look at what artists are working on now; learn about their craftsmanship, processes and inspirations; and – best of all –can shop the pieces they love. The designers will send them right to you, with proceeds directly benefiting the artists and the museum’s educational programming.

On June 9, it’s “Loot,” MAD’s contemporary artisan jewelry sale hosted by curator Bryna Pomp, featuring antique cameo artist Anna Porcu (Tuscany) and glass jewelry designer Jed Green (London).

On June 18th, RE:FINE – a fine jewelry sale special event emphasizing ethical jewelry. Curator Franci Sagar and author of BEJEWELED: The World of Ethical Jewelry, Kyle Roderick will host and showcase designs by jewelers Stella Flame, Loren Teetelli, and Joan Horning.
