Giving the gift of life to Florence victims

Sunday’s blood drive at Sacred Heart Church will support the victims of Hurricane Florence in North Carolina.

Blood drives are a regular occurrence at Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale. But the one taking place this Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Sacred Heart School Gym is special:  It will support the victims of Hurricane Florence in North Carolina.

One pint of blood can save three lives. And almost anyone can donate. All you have to do is be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be between the ages of 16 and 75. (If you are 16, you’ll need your parents to fill out a consent form, which you can find at nybc.org. If you are 76 and older, you’ll need a doctor’s note.)

Before giving blood, hydrate and eat a well-balanced meal. (You’ll be given a snack afterward.) Don’t forget your ID with photo or signature or your New York Blood Center donor card.

Walk-ins are welcome but it would be helpful for staffing purposes if you would sign up in advance at this site, using group code #14141.

The school gym is at 59 Wilson St. For more, call 800-688-0900.
