Last year, WAG donned its best chapeau and headed on out to Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway to help judge the racino’s “Fancy Derby Hat Contest.” It was a beautiful Kentucky Derby Day that saw the beginning of American Pharoah’s Triple Crown triumph, and we know fans are going to have just as much fun Saturday, May 7, with celebrity judge Bethenny Frankel of “The Real Housewives of New York City” on hand.
Participants can register for the contest for free from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with the winner announced at 5 p.m.. Among other prizes and giveaways, there will be a $750 prize for the contestant with Bethenny’s favorite hat. All contestants who register with an appropriate Derby hat will receive a $10 Free Play.
Bethenny will be available to mix and mingle with attendees from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. In addition, she will be unveiling her new Skinnygirl brand cocktail, Cooler Than the Julep – a spin on the classic Derby drink.
Bethenny knows a thing or two about horse racing as her late father, Robert Frankel, was a successful American Thoroughbred trainer.
