The Connecticut Ceramics Study Circle will present a Sept. 25 lecture by Lee Glazer, curator of American Art, Freer/Sackler Galleries, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
The 1:30 p.m. lecture, “Chinamania in Victorian England,” will be held at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich.
Covering the history of the West’s fascination with porcelain, the talk will also explore the recent “Chinamania” exhibition at the Smithsonian’s Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, which paired the work of contemporary ceramic sculptor Walter McConnell with historic examples of Kangxi porcelain from the collection of the Freer Gallery of Art.
Admission for nonmembers is $25.
