‘Time’ to get away

Wonderful Dining columnist Aleesia Forni didn’t let a misinterpretation of a “pool party” invite get in the way of her enjoyment of the new luxe Nyack hotel.

Looking for a quick weekend getaway but hoping to stay close to home? Look no farther than The Time Nyack, a posh hotel situated just off Interstate 287 in Nyack.

WAG snapped up the opportunity to attend a recent pool party at the eclectic venue. Following the invitation’s lead, we arrived clad in our head-to-toe beach gear, complete with bikinis and board shorts. However, we were somewhat surprised – and more than slightly embarrassed – to discover that we were the only attendees to interpret the invitation literally.

Despite the slight snafu, we enjoyed a dip in the temperature-controlled pool, at the urging of hotel staffers, as we sipped on our summertime cocktails. (And let us assure you, the water was fine.)

We also grabbed dinner at the adjoining BV’s Grill, sampling shrimp on a bed of sautéed spinach, followed by creamy cheesecake, though the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly expertly-cooked short ribs and garlic mashed potatoes.

All and all, it was the perfect way to unwind from a hectic week – well, almost perfect.
