This year’s Garden Art & Antiques Fair at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx wasn’t as dramatic as past installations. (Think of a Bunny Williams gazebo as a centerpiece a few years back.) But it had its pleasures along with new and familiar vendors.
In addition to Mount Kisco’s Fleur and Katonah’s Barbara Israel Garden Antiques, we were introduced to Period to Mod Brennan and Mouilleseaux Antiques from Briarcliff Manor and David Brooker Fine Art from Southport. First timers included Dinan & Chighine Fine Art and Design all the way from Surrey, England, and Garden Stone Art & Antiques from Granville, Ohio.
There were splendid offerings of garden furniture and embellishments, although once again we were partial to the sensuous neoclassical sculptures and paintings.
If you missed this show, you’re in luck. Some of the same vendors will be at “Objects of Desire” at the Wilton Historical Society June 1 through 3. As for the Botanical Garden, it’s on to “Georgia O’Keeffe: Visions of Hawai’i” May 19 through Oct. 28.
