Continue your Father’s Day shopping at the Larchmont Sidewalk Sale Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5, when, among other goodies, you’ll encounter the landscapes of Susan Stillman, whose paintings are “meant to evoke a shared memory of places we have visited or simply see in our everyday lives.” They range in subject from English to Westchester County scenes and in size from 8 by 10 inches to 64 by 46 inches. Many are views of trees.
Stillman is well-known for her representations of homes and properties in Westchester and surrounding areas through her business, Home Portraits, which has been profiled in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, among others. She has been a faculty member at Parsons School of Design since 1983.
Stillman holds a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and an M.F.A. from Brooklyn College. She also spent a year in Rome studying painting. Beginning her career as an illustrator in the early 1980s, she was published in hundreds of magazines, newspapers, posters and books. She was chosen to illustrate a special centennial edition of James Joyce’s “Ulysses” for Book of the Month Club and illustrated “The Invisible City: A New York Sketchbook” for author Pete Hamill. Her landscape paintings been exhibited widely in New York and the surrounding areas.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6, the Norwalk Art Space, a new venue for local artists to show their work and for local students to take free art classes, will open its doors with a weekend of exhibitions, live music and tours. From Sunday, June 6, through Aug. 29, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking’s “13th Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition” takes place. This juried exhibition, limited to works no more than four square inches, encourages artists to explore the miniature print format. Since its inception in 1997, the “Miniature Print Exhibition” has showcased the works of artists worldwide with print curators and collectors serving as jurors. Reservations are required.
