A destination for distinctive gifts

The expanded Museum Store is ready for its first holiday season on the newly reimagined Cos Cob campus of the Greenwich Historical Society.

This year, WAG followed the story of the Greenwich Historical Society and the unveiling of its reimagined campus in Cos Cob.

First, we had a feature in our garden-themed May issue, which focused on the revival of the property’s historic gardens.

We then covered the “big reveal” in October.

And just in time for the holiday season, we’ve now received an update on the expanded Museum Store.

Manager Barbara Johann, a onetime owner of Hoagland’s in Greenwich, is curating the shop.

In time for its first holiday season, the new shop is filled with a selection of distinctive goods ideal for holiday gifts and entertaining, as well as birthdays, anniversaries, housewarmings and hostess gifts.

Among the featured items are jewelry, apparel, decorative items, garden accessories, books, greeting cards and, for children, games, stuffed animals and educational toys.

In advance materials, Johann notes, “The merchandise is carefully curated and updated to reflect seasonal themes such as the holidays, spring gardening and summertime pursuits. And we’ll always have a full complement of Greenwich-themed items, such as pewter tabletop accessories from Woodbury Pewter.”

Special events, from a jewelry trunk show to an afternoon tea, have already been held, with 2019 events set to include a Jan. 24 program, “White Wines of the World,” and “Chocolate Sunday!” on Feb. 17.

Historical society members receive a 10-percent discount on merchandise throughout the year. All gift purchases are wrapped at no additional charge.

Store proceeds benefit education and preservation.

The new Museum Store, adjacent to the new Artists’ Café, is open daily within the historical society’s campus, at 47 Strickland Road.
