A ‘Gold’en opportunity

Time once again for the American Gold Cup at Old Salem Farm in North Salem.

If you read our profile of Greenwich-based equestrian Adrienne Sternlicht in WAG’s August “Fascinating Pastimes” issue, then you know she’s among the elite riders who’ll be vying for the American Gold Cup at Old Salem Farm this week.

Set over six days (today, Sept. 10, through Sunday, Sept. 15), the 49-year-old Cup features world-class competitions culminating in the actual contest for the Cup itself – the $210,000 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping New York CS14*-W, a qualifier for the 2020 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final, to be held in Las Vegas April 15 through 19. (Only a handful of competitions in the United States have that designation.)

Apart from the taut thrill of watching equestrians and horses navigate challenging courses, however, there’s the casual counterbalance of savoring curated shopping and dining in tented boutiques amid Old Salem Farm’s undulating landscape.
