An artful spin on holiday shopping

Those in search of one-of-a-kind holiday gifts may want to add the Garrison Art Center 2016 Holiday Pottery Show & Sale to their itineraries.

Organizers tell us that a handful of new artists are joining the lineup of the veteran show and, as always, the event will feature “a variety of handmade functional, decorative and sculptural one-of-a-kind ceramics works, all lovingly crafted and thoughtfully priced. This year there are over 30 participating artisans that include many local favorites with pieces ranging from the playful and amusing to the highly sophisticated. The event will also include jewelry, hats and scarves, paper goods, soaps and more. It’s the time of year to give thanks, and there is no better way to show appreciation than by supporting local artists while also strengthening community art education programs.”

The event will open with a members’ preview from noon to 5 p.m., Nov. 18, with all welcome to the opening festivities that follow from 5 to 8 p.m.

The sale will continue in the center’s Riverside Galleries from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Nov. 27, except for Thanksgiving Day, when it will be closed.

The art center is at 23 Garrison’s Landing.
