ART, IN FOCUS

An innovative show house is about to open in Cold Spring – and we’ve got a sneak peek.
The ArtFull Living Designer Show House, a project that teams up dozens of Hudson Valley artists with local interior designers, will officially open its doors June 3 at Glassbury Court in Cold Spring.

But we took a recent tour and one word came to mind: “Wow!”

It’s an amazingly bright and creative project, thought up by Cold Spring glass artist Barbara Galazzo, whose own work is featured throughout.

Here, the focus is on integrating art into your own surroundings – showing how it can all work by placing all kinds of art in room settings (as opposed to a gallery).

There is glass, furniture, textiles and fine art. The artistry is seen in table settings, on walls, handcrafted headboards and quirky pillows.

Take your own tour, and you’ll come away with dozens of ideas to liven up your own home – and a renewed sense of art appreciation.

The ArtFull Living Show House will be open noon to 4 p.m. Fridays through Tuesdays from June 3 through Sept. 9 at Glassbury Court at Cold Spring, 3370 Albany Post Road (Route 9). A reception featuring the designers and artists will be held on the opening day. Entry is by $10 suggested donation, which includes a tour of the house and all related events. A portion of the entry will go to the Born This Way Foundation. (Note: Children under age 10 will not be permitted in the show house).
