Bust-ed

A lust for (sculpted) busts.

I’m regularly teased for my love of ancient Greek culture, so I felt more than a bit justified (OK, smug) when I encountered this article on the lust for (sculpted) busts. It seems influencers have discovered what art historians and critics have long known:  There’s a reason that these works and their many replicas have survived. They’re timeless beauties.

Actual Greco-Roman busts cost five and six figures and are subject to strict laws governing antiquities. Best to leave them to museums, where we all can admire them. But that doesn’t mean you can’t spruce up your digs with fab, affordable copies from the likes of Basil Street Gallery, Burlington Coat Factory, Home Goods, Restoration Hardware and Toscano.

Take them home and play with them. I always give my guys – I have no female busts – a bow about the neck to make them feel special.

Revel in their splendor – and the notion that everything old is new again.
