On Friday, June 18, at noon, the YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester in White Plains holds its 13th annual “In the Company of Women: A Virtual Gathering.” The Y’s largest and most important fundraiser will consider the effect that housing, childcare, early education, health, wellness, advocacy and leadership can have on women and their families, particularly when programs are implemented with equality in mind.
This year’s honorees are Ruth Manecke, the Emmy Award-winning zoologist, animal trainer/ agent and “Captain Kangeroo” regular (Trailblazer Award); criminal and civil rights lawyer Mayo Bartlett (Ally Award); Kara Underwood, managing director of diversity, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (Visionary Achievement Award); and the women of Apple Bank – Maureen Douglas, Sylvia Lopez and Nicola Standard (Community Partnership Award).
We were thrilled to be an honoree last year and humbled to be a small part of the Y’s great work for underserved women. Congratulations to the honorees. We know it will be another inspiring event.
