Creating a nursery fit for a future king (or queen)

You may remember reading all about Farrow & Ball, the company known for its top-of-the-line paints and wallpapers, in our February issue.

Well, we’ve just heard from the U.K.-based company – which has a showroom in Greenwich and is offering some tips in honor of the news about England’s next royal baby.

With the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge expecting their first, Farrow & Ball reminds its customers that choosing the right color for a nursery is both exciting and challenging for any parents, royal or not.

Ideally, the choice will be one that the parents and child can enjoy for years to come, so Farrow & Ball designers say that soft, fresh tones create a calm environment when used on larger spaces, while accents in vibrant colors add both interest and excitement for babies and help stimulate their imaginations as they grow.

The company, which has already named one of its most favorite shades Middleton Pink, uses that hue along with Great White to create a charming color scheme for a young lady. Accents in bolder hues, such as Brinjal or Cinder Rose, liven things up just a bit.

And for the young man, a soft blue – the company suggests Borrowed Light – keeps the room airy and modern, though it really comes into its own once the strong accents of Hague blue join the mix.

The company has even more suggestions – in greens, yellow and red, white and blue – to create that first environment for your own baby.

After all, Farrow & Ball realize you’ll want to treat the little one like royalty even if he or she doesn’t have a title.
