Farm-Fresh Festivities Kick Off Friday

We devoted our July issue to food, a favorite WAG topic to be sure, so we thought it only fitting to pass on news about a two-day event kicking off Friday night that taps into that same devotion for a good cause. Friends of the Farmer are bringing an epic farm dinner and food festival to the Copake Country Club in Craryville, a quick weekend hop to the charming Copake Lake, to benefit Farm On!, an educational charity that teaches local students the skills needed to pursue careers in the local agriculture and food systems.

Friday from 6 to 11 p.m., noted farm-to-table chef Zakary Pelaccio and some 60 farmers will team up to serve a seated dinner for 300 with a farmer and his wife sitting at each table to chat about life on a farm. The majority of the menu will be prepared from ingredients sourced from within five miles of the site.

Can’t make it to to dinner? Join Saturday for the third annual Friends of the Farmer Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., sponsored by designer John Varvatos. Featuring farmers, growers, specialty food producers, chefs, restaurateurs, winemakers, brewers and distillers, the festival will showcase the best Hudson Valley has to offer and bring fun for all with live music from Lukas Nelson, local vendors and all kinds of themed activities.

We know our foodies love to take to the road, and this trip will bring you quite the delicious weekend.
