Food for thought

Each day thousands of children in Westchester go hungry.

It is unconscionable in a county that is among the wealthiest in the nation. That’s why The Westchester County Business Journal, WAG’s sister publication, and the Food Bank for Westchester are teaming for a special event April 24 – to raise funds and awareness.

Join them from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for delicious bites from Fortina restaurant, beverages from Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits and an outside-the-box, inside-the box fashion show. All the creations will be made from food and food packaging by students from Westchester Community College, the Southern Westchester BOCES Center for Career Services and The Tech Center at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, who will also be modeling.

Judging the show are fashion designer Rolando Santana; Mary Jane Denzer, owner of the iconic White Plains store; Ravi S. Rajan, dean of the School of the Arts at Purchase College; and Catherine Cioffi, associate director of public relations, Mercy College. Elizabeth Bracken-Thompson – partner in the public relations firm Thompson & Bender – is the moderator. Admission is free.
