Happy (almost) Earth Day

Celebrating Earth Day.

The climate action movement Bedford 2030,  part of April WAG’s business and the environment issue, isn’t the only group celebrating Earth Day, Friday, April 22. The day, first marked in 1970, has taken on new urgency in a time of global warming, species extinction and dwindling resources.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse, founded by Peter Shapiro, owner of The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, invites you to a Grateful Dead for Kids concert Saturday, April 23, at Garcia’s (named for the Dead’s Jerry Garcia) at The Capitol. A portion of the proceeds will go to the band’s Rex Foundation, which supports environmental nonprofits. For tickets, visit therockandrollplayhouse.com.

Meanwhile, Cross County Center in Yonkers  – which has installed two honeybee hives as part of its BEE Initiative to help the bees make a comeback – is celebrating Earth Day on Sunday, April 24, from noon to 3 p.m. For more, visit here.
