Hello, Lionsgate

Welcoming Lionsgate to Yonkers

While the ribbon cutting and press conference have been cancelled due to Covid, Lionsgate Studios Yonkers opens its doors Tuesday, Jan. 11. Created by Great Point Studios – which owns, has developed and will manage the 1 million-square-foot campus – the site features 11 soundstages, offices, support space and city street backlots in the city’s Downtown-Waterfront District, with Lionsgate as the lead, naming tenant. Other site participants include Spanish-language content producer Mediapro and the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications. The project, which cost more than $500 million, represents one of the largest dedicated video and film production facilities on the East Coast.

First up for Lionsgate will be the second season of “Run the World” – a comedy about four Black career women at work and at play in Harlem – which begins preproduction this month.

We look forward to Lionsgate running its world from Yonkers. For more, check out Phil Hall’s story in WAG’s December salute to the city and visit Lionsgate.com.
