Helping the food insecure

Tarrytown’s Jazz Forum Arts will hold a benefit concert for the Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry Saturday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m.

Since the pandemic began, the number of families visiting the Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry has increased exponentially.  The pantry provides not only shelf-stable items but also fresh produce and grocery store gift cards.

But the pantry, which gives so much, could use a helping hand as well. That help has arrived in a musical form.

On Saturday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m., Jazz Forum Arts in Tarrytown will sponsor a benefit concert for the pantry. The 90-minute session will be streamed on Vimeo in full HD. Ticket purchasers will be sent a private link to view the performance at 6 p.m. on that day. The lineup includes David Janeway (piano), Ralph Lalama, (tenor saxophone), Mark Morganelli (trumpet / flugelhorn), Nicole Pasternak (vocals), John Patitucci (bass), Gary Smulyan (baritone saxophone) and Ron Vincent (drums). They will perform a mix of standards, bebop and modern jazz with a variety of instrumentation and vocals. Tickets are $20. For more, click on Jazz Forum Benefit for the Food Pantry.
