Ice Chips for a healthy sweet tooth

If you’ve got a sweet tooth – but don’t want cavities – you need to put Ice Chips on your radar.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth – but don’t want cavities – you need to put Ice Chips on your radar. I discovered this great product on the TV show “Shark Tank” a while back. The great thing about these candy treats is that they are made with Xylitol – a sugar alcohol naturally found in the birch tree. Xylitol looks and tastes like sugar but has fewer calories and doesn’t raise blood sugar levels.

Several studies suggest that it has various important benefits, including improved dental health. Dentists love them – and so do kids.

The two women who founded the company are an interesting pair of kids, to say the least. Beverly Vines-Haines and her best friend. Charlotte Clary, are grandmothers who together have founded more than 20 businesses. Spectacularly, they ignored a challenging economy, a lack of experience in manufacturing and a lack of expertise in the complexities of automation to create their million-dollar Ice Chips candy company, which is finding shelf space at checkout stands – and selling alongside huge confectionary giants.

Personally, I’m crazy about their clove candies. I just love the allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg that typically contribute to pumpkin pie. With Ice Chips’ unusual clove candies, I can feel like I’m eating pumpkin pie anytime I want.

Other mouth-watering flavors include the best-selling lemon, ginger, chocolate brownie, licorice, sour cherry, strawberry daiquiri, wintergreen – and many more.

I keep a tin in my car, in my gym bag and in my travel carry-on bag as the perfect little pick-me-up. A six-pack of one-ounce tins sells for $14.99.
