New Castle Historical Society marks milestone

The New Castle Historical Society is celebrating the centennial of the women’s suffrage movement in New York.

Tickets are now available for the New Castle Historical Society’s “A Party in Greeley’s Garden: Celebrating 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage in New York State.”

The event will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the society’s headquarters, the Horace Greeley House at 100 King St. in Chappaqua.

Featured will be suffrage-related music from the early 20th century, wine, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite suffragist or to dress in white, as the suffragists did.

All proceeds from this event will support the New Castle Historical Society, with a portion of event proceeds to be used toward the creation of a special exhibition exploring the Women’s Suffrage Movement and the life of Carrie Chapman Catt, a leading suffragist and a former New Castle resident.
