‘No ordinary time,’ no ordinary conversation

Anytime you can spend part of a beautiful summer day in a lovely church with three dynamic people is a good day, right? Particularly at this moment. Recently, Vilma Bordonaro, chief of staff to New York Medical College Chancellor and CEO Edward C. Halperin, M.D.; legendary New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera; and New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson came together at the city’s Refuge of Hope Church, where Rivera’s wife, Clara, is pastor, to discuss the coronavirus, education, leadership and inspiration. Their comments will be part of the Valhalla-based college’s virtual Founder’s Dinner, which takes place Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m.

In an hour that ranged over religion and science, art and sport, several themes emerged – not the least of which were the needs for calm leadership and kindness for and patience with others.

Along with wearing our masks, socially distancing and using hand sanitizer, these are reminders we can all use.
