Some pretty ‘Outrageous’ jewelry

Those with a love of the daring will want to add “Outrageous Ornament: Extreme Jewelry in the 21st Century” to their fall calendars, as the exhibition opens Oct. 21 at the Katonah Museum of Art.

If you love your jewelry bold – and artistic – a new exhibition opening this autumn in Katonah will be right up your alley.

“Outrageous Ornament: Extreme Jewelry in the 21st Century,” press materials tell us, “reimagines the traditional boundaries that for so many centuries have defined body ornamentation.”

The exhibition of some 45 innovative designs will be on display Oct. 21 through Jan. 27 at the Katonah Museum of Art, brought together by Jane Adlin, former curator of modern and contemporary design at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

An extensive program of workshops, discussions, studio visits, lectures, family activities and a pop-up retail shop will be announced in early fall.

We’re also planning to advance the show in more detail in our October art-themed issue, so stay tuned.
