From 7 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 19, the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers will hold a virtual, members-only reception for its new exhibit “Border Cantos/ Sonic Border: Richard Misrach/Guillermo Galindo.” Hosted by museum director and CEO Masha Turchinsky, the presentation will feature remarks by Misrach and Galindo; a tour by Laura Vookles, chair of the curatorial department; and a performance by sculptor-composer Galindo, whose installation, “Sonic Border,” is scored for eight instruments made out of discarded objects found along the 2,000-mile border the United States shares with Mexico. The installation complements Misrach’s large-scale photographs of landscapes and experiences also found along the border, including the existing wall.
The exhibit continues through May 9, with hours from noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
Members and those interested in becoming members should RSVP at rsvp@hrm.org. For more, call 914-963-4550.
