Stroll into the holidays

The Festive Stroll of Holiday Homes will be held Nov. 22-23, an annual event that will again benefit the Ossining Children’s Center.

The holiday season is about to kick into high gear.

There are events set throughout the region, starting this weekend and continuing all the way through New Year’s Day.

Here’s one we’ve heard about, an annual tradition that gets the season off in a most stylish fashion.

The Festive Stroll of Holiday Homes will again be held to benefit the Ossining Children’s Center.

The event, produced in partnership with Holbrook Cottage, a lifestyle shop in Briarcliff Manor, will take place Nov. 22 and 23.

Here’s how the organizers are advancing this year’s event:

“The Festive Stroll, founded 21 years ago by Sue Taub of Holbrook Cottage and of Briarcliff Manor, will feature decorating traditions from around the world that will be displayed in three Sleepy Hollow homes. In addition to the magnificent decorations, the Stroll will highlight the rich history of the Philipse Manor neighborhood.

“Although Taub likes to surprise and delight guests with each home’s unique decorations, she has allowed a sneak glimpse into what strollers may expect to see this year. Two of the classic homes, both built in the 1920s, will whisk strollers away to countries around the world through creative table settings, unique floral displays and Christmas trees decorated in styles representing various cultures. Guests will travel from the British Isles to Scandinavia to Latin America, experiencing a rich tapestry of global Christmas traditions.

“Thanksgiving will also be celebrated along the Stroll in a home that will become the true expression of a harvest bounty. Abundant displays of flowers and gourds will give visitors wonderful ideas to take home for their very own Thanksgiving celebrations the following Thursday.

“Guests will also experience Hanukkah through children’s eyes, in a whimsically decorated play room featuring games and songs. The room will be punctuated with an eclectic display of menorahs, encompassing many styles and traditions.”

The event kicks off with a Nov. 22 benefit luncheon at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club, with the stroll scheduled for Nov. 23. Tickets are $50 for a tour of all three homes or $150 for the tour and luncheon.

All Festive Stroll proceeds will go to the Ossining Children’s Center’s Tuition Assistance Fund.
