The art of the Arabian

Here’s a little something for the horse lover and shutterbug in your life – a sumptuous, and we do mean sumptuous, coffee-table book that plumbs the majesty and mystique of the Arabian horse.

“Arabian Horses: The World of Ajmal Arabian Stud” (100 images, 144 pages) tells the tale of these elegant creatures, the pride of the Arabian people and an object of fascination worldwide, as seen through the collection of 25 Arabians at the Ajmal Arabian Stud farm in Kuwait. The book, which features photographs by Wojciech Kwiatkowski and an introduction by Judith E. Forbis, is a hand-bound limited edition contained in a linen clamshell case. It’s a perfect volume for the spring gift season (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations) that captures the spirit, grace and dynamism of these magnificent animals.

Assouline is on a roll as far as WAG is concerned. The company also published “Who We Are: Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams,” about the home design partners who are on a silver anniversary tour of their Signatures Stores, like the one in Greenwich, and who are about so much more than sconces. They’re the subject of an insightful Mary Shustack story in WAG’s April “Horse Power” issue.

And look for a spread on Assouline’s “Oscar de la Renta: The Style, Inspiration, and Life of Oscar de La Renta” in WAG’s May “Flower Power” issue. – Georgette Gouveia
