The Hudson River Museum takes part in Museum Day

The Hudson River Museum in Yonkers is once again participating in Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day.

The Hudson River Museum in Yonkers is once again participating in Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day, an annual event hosted by the publication in which cultural institutions across the country provide free admission to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. On Saturday, Sept. 18, from noon to 5 p.m., enjoy “Wall Power! Spectacular Quilts From the American Folk Art Museum.” (There’s also the planetarium and the historic Glenview Mansion at the Hudson River Museum, but they are not included in the Museum Day ticket.)

To download your ticket, visit https://www.hrm.org/events/smithsonian-magazine-museum-day-2021/.

The quilt show is on view through Sept. 26. Then it’s “African American Art in the 20th Century” (Oct. 15 through Jan. 16), which presents 43 paintings and sculptures by 34 African American artists who came to prominence during the period bracketed by the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights movement.

Such shows demonstrate that every day is Museum Day.
