One of the most heart-rending losses engendered by the pandemic, from a cultural perspective, has been the absence of so many great live events. But at least a large portion of those can be experienced virtually.
Witness one of our faves that we used to attend at the end of every April — The New York Botanical Garden’s (NYBG’s) Antique Garden Furniture Fair. This year, it runs virtually as a weeklong event from Thursday, April 29 to Friday, May 7, featuring once again unusual offerings from leading antique dealers, including classic furniture and fine garden antiques –some with a modern twist, all elegant and inspiring – for the home and garden.
Festivities begin with an exclusive Preview Party featuring the Collectors’ Plant Auction, from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 29. Ticket holders will receive a special early access link that will allow them to purchase objects from the fair exhibitors’ offerings and bid on a curated collection of exquisite and beautifully grown garden plants handpicked by NYBG’s horticultural staff. Proceeds support NYBG and its premier horticultural programs.
