The sweet – and sometimes spicy – smell of success

We first worked with Kevin Burke and David Kimelman back in early 2016, when we headed to Cold Spring to write about the village’s annual spring rebirth.

The home design and accessories destination was again featured in our June issue that year, with Burke and Kimelman sharing their thoughts on artful wedding gifts.

Since then we’ve followed the brand’s continued growth, most recently in the December issue as we checked out the couple’s latest effort, a second Burkelman which had just opened on the Bowery in Manhattan.

And now – the story continues with the release of Burkelman personal fragrances.

Building on the success of the Burkelman candles, a fragrance collection has been created in-house by the Burkelman founders. The six signature scents –Welcome To The Vortex (“complex and airy”), Sensory Seeker (“spicy and herbal”), Night Moves (“sweet and seductive”), Ambassador So-And-So (“clean and zesty”), Princess Jasmine Sparkles (“floral and bright”) and That Hudson Valley Fragrance (“warm and woodsy”) – are now available in 1.7-ounce bottles of eau de parfum. The long-lasting premium fragrances feature, as press materials share, original box imagery and sleek bottle designs that together “perfectly reflects the Burkelman aesthetic, classically timeless and boldly refreshing.”

As to this next step – the answer to “Why fragrance?,” the pair say:

“At Burkelman, we’re all about a fun, fabulous and sophisticated, yet relaxed, approach to life. We created our scents to provide a new avenue for our customers to express who they are in the world.
