Valmont’s luminous new line

Valmont lightens up for spring with new fragrance, skincare.

Valmont, the luxe Swiss skincare line, has always been all about the glow. Now it has created a new line of no-muss, no-fuss skincare products – in 100% percent recyclable bottles, a first for the company – designed to “work on the texture of the skin for a beautiful glow inside and out.”

That was according to Amanda Macino, director of training for the company, who introduced the products at a Feb. 17 Zoom meeting that was accompanied by splits of Moët et Chandon Rosé Champagne sent to the press in advance along with the products. No Valmont launch is ever complete without the Champagne. But that’s as it should be. Just as Champagne is – pardon the pun – rooted in grapes, Valmont’s products are all about the botanicals and glacial waters of the brand’s native Switzerland. And while the new line targets millennials in its straightforwardness and environmental friendliness, Macino said, it follows in the tradition of other Valmont lines that also use plant extracts, which should appeal to veteran clients, too.

The first two products – LumiMask and LumiPeel – are designed to address sallowness and dullness, Macino said. Use LumiMask – which contains glycolic acid and papaya extract – twice a week for 10 minutes, massaging it into the face before rinsing it off. (If your skin is sensitive, she added, leave the scrub mask on only for five minutes. But all of the products, she said, are gentle enough even for skin that has rosacea.) Apply the LumiPeel, an exfoliating water containing white mulberry root, papaya and prickly pear, using a cotton pad and then a toner.

These are followed by LumiSence and LumiCream, which are designed to resurface and rebuild the skin. LumiSence is a serum water that includes a cocktail of seven Alpine plants, Triple DNA and two kinds of white mulberry root. The LumiCream contains ginseng as well.

Looking for a richer moisturizing experience? A company spokeswoman suggested using the Serum Précieuse from the luxuriant Elixir des Glaciers line after LumiSence and replacing LumiCream with Crème Merveilleux from L’Elixir des Glaciers.

Those who like to layer on products won’t want to forget to use an eye serum and/or cream before their face cream. Hydra 3 Eye Serum can be applied before an eye cream like l’Elixir des Glaciers Vos Yeux.

The Elixir line also happens to smell heavenly. And speaking of things that smell divine, it was time for Marcino to introduce the new fragrance Just Bloom, with its delicate notes of lily of the valley, gardenia, carnation, coconut, ambergris, musk and aldehyde, a cool, metallic synthetic. (Marcino noted that perhaps the most famous floraldehyde is Chanel No. 5.)

To celebrate the Luminosity line, Valmont spas, like the recently launched Valmont Spa at The Carlylewill be featuring the Luminosity of Ice facial, using the products and the principles of reflexology to flush out the body’s toxins, Marcino said.

We can’t wait.

Just Bloom is available in March and retails for $290. The Luminosity line is available in April, with the LumiPeel retailing for $145; LumiMask, $210; LumiSence, $240; and LumiCream, $260. For more, visit lamaisonvalmont.com
