Wagging it

Fans of WAG couldn’t help but send us links to the piece that appeared in the Sept. 1 issue of The New York Times’ Style section, “When Singles Become Doubles,” all about WAGs – Britspeak for the wives and girlfriends of famous athletes, particularly tennis players. Among them is Novak Djokovic’s consort – Jelena Ristic, September Vogue’s “It Girl.” Ristic runs the Novak Djokovic Foundation and in that capacity she isn’t above putting her guy on the spot to raise money to help disadvantaged children in their native Serbia. Vogue reports that at the organization’s recent London gala, the resourceful Jelena auctioned off time with her man in the men’s locker room – where, she said, the winner would get to see everything she does.

Now that’s a real WAG – in the sense of a true scamp.
