Romancing the (summer) stone

August WAG features Jennifer Pitman's delightful take on turquoise, which Buccellati celebrates in its new Opera Collection, also available at R & M Woodrow Jewelers in Rye.

In August WAG, our What’s Collectible columnist Jennifer Pitman, Rago Auction’s senior account manager for Westchester and Connecticut,  urns her delightful eye to the mystique of turquoise, which she calls “summer’s stone.” It also figures in the new Opera collection from Buccellati, which is also featured at R & M Woodrow Jewelers in Rye. The curving, cruciform designs suggest flowers, Moorish arches and the floor plans of Romanesque churches, all influences on Italian culture, while the turquoise and white diamond palette evokes the sun-dappled summer sky and sea.

But as with any Buccellati pieces, you won’t want to put these away at summer’s end. This is truly a collection for all seasons, one to remind you of summer’s glow in the heart of winter.
