The goddess look continues

Giving the world the cold shoulder (in the best possible way)

From the red carpet to off the rack, the one-shoulder design is in, in, in, for everything from eveningwear to swimsuits.

On April 20, actress Chloe Sevigny stunned at the “Russian Doll” Season 2 premiere in Manhattan in a Carolina Herrera one-shoulder columnar black gown with a side train in shocking pink. She’s not the only one giving the world the cold shoulder (in the best possible way). This season, Banana Republic is featuring a one-shoulder pleated yellow dress that looks most fetching in the ad campaign displayed in the Eastchester locations’s window. Even Talbot’s modest swimsuits for women of a certain fine vintage, shall we say, include a design that is associated with ancient Greek goddesses.

Interestingly, though, if you look at ancient Greek sculpture, the female figure is generally draped in diaphanous designs supported on both shoulders. There’s no question, however, that the sculpture has influenced a modern look that continues to have a moment.
