We pause Monday, May 31, to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country as well as all our veterans and active-duty service men and women.
To them all we say thank you. We will never forget you.
PBS salutes the fallen and the United States Armed Forces with the “National Memorial Day Concert” at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 30, which was the actual date of Memorial Day from 1868 to 1970 when it was changed to the last Monday in May. We’d also thought you’d enjoy this piece – “Decoration Day,” after the original name of the holiday – written in 1912 by Danbury-born composer Charles Ives.
From all of us at WAG, a happy, healthy and safe Memorial Day.
