PBS salutes the fallen and the United States Armed Forces with the National Memorial Day Concert” at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 30, which was the actual date of Memorial Day from 1868 to 1970 when it was changed to the last Monday in May. We’d also thought you’d enjoy this piece – “Decoration Day,” after the original name of the holiday – written in 1912 by Danbury-born composer Charles Ives.
