A rose for a rose

Is the any one more enchanting in the world of beauty than Isabelle d’Ornano? The matriarch of the d’Ornano family – the Franco-Polish dynasty behind the Sisley Paris brand with American headquarters in White Plains – has a home in the heart of the Loire Valley, not far from where the romantic writer George Sand lived. There in her garden she has set sculptures and planted roses, hydrangeas, honeysuckle, wisteria, cedars and shrubs. (Wouldn’t you just love to share a cup of tea there with Mme. d’Ornano and perhaps a soupcon of something sweet?)

In any event, she was strolling there one day when the inspiration came for Sisley’s new fragrance – Izia, named for the Polish diminutive for Isabelle and the name with which she peppers letters to family.

What can we say but that the fragrance evokes d’Ornano’s garden, with topnotes of tea and bergemot, woody base notes and a rosy center for a luscious, powdery scent encased in a rose-tinted, golden-faceted bottle by sculptor Bronisław Krzysztof, under her direction.

Sisley’s Izia will be available February 2017 at over 95 luxury retailers nationwide, including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York, select locations of Bloomingdales and Nordstrom and Sisley-Paris.com.
