An artistic approach to holiday shopping

If you’re looking for out-of-the-ordinary holiday gifts, you might want to consider a trip to New Canaan.

Silvermine Arts Center is hosting its annual School of Art Holiday Sale, which features work by Silvermine faculty and students, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 and 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 6.

In addition, an Artisan Trunk Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5.

Expect unique jewelry, clothing, home goods and artwork, including ceramics, paintings and more.

In the spirit of the season, a portion of the proceeds will support the children’s scholarship fund.

There will also be a special opportunity to purchase jewelry and enameled boxes by Hilda Kraus (1915-2014). Kraus was a lifetime member of the Silvermine Guild and one of the leading figures in the postwar metals and enameling fields.

Shoppers may also want to note that the Silvermine Gift Shop is now on extended holiday hours, from noon to 5 p.m. daily through Dec. 23.

Silvermine is at 1037 Silvermine Road.
