Another fun Bloomies’ ‘Makeup Date’

Carson Kressley + cosmetics giveaways. What’s not to love?

It was billed as a store like no other in the world features a host like no other and that was certainly true as Bloomingdale’s White Plains welcomed back Carson Kressley of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Celebrity Cupcake Wars” fame for another November Sunday edition of “The VIP Makeup Date.”

As usual, reps from Sisley, Clarins, Clinique, Lancome, etc. played straight men and women for Kressley’s dry wit. Upon learning that the Clarins representative was named Agnes, Kressley quipped, “Agnes of Clarins, you sound like the saint of small pores.” He particularly loved that one of Sisley’s products, Sisleÿa, has a “y” in it. “That would be a great name for a figure skater.” The best, though, was when he told the Clinique rep that the brand needs to spruce up its numerical lipstick names with monikers like “Naughty Secretary,” “Where Am I?” and “Whose House Is This?”

As usual, Kressley vied with thousands of dollars worth of cosmetics gift boxes that were raffled off to the delight of some 500 women (and a few good men). Afterward, we all took a turn spinning a game wheel for more prizes.

Speaking of spinning, DJ Theo spun some BeeGees to get us in the groove for makeovers, hand massages and more shopping; the breakfast eats, mimosas and Prosecco flowed; and a great time was once again had by all.
