Career leap

How excited are we at WAG to see that Chase Finlay has been promoted from soloist to principal dancer at the New York City Ballet. We knew the Fairfield native was destined for big things the moment he broke through in George Balanchine’s “Apollo,” a role that fits the golden boy like, well, a ballet slipper. That’s why we put him on the cover of our September 2011 issue in the leaping pose seen here. Are you surprised to learn it has been one of our most popular issues? Probably not.

Kudos to Chase, whom we’ll catch up with in our May issue, which is all about “Heating Up.” For more on City Ballet, visit nycballet.com.
