For many, Saturday, Dec. 26, will be St. Stephen’s Day, honoring the first Christian martyr, and Boxing Day, a time to give back to all who serve others. But it’s also the first day of the seven-day festival of Kwanzaa, designed to celebrate African American culture and the principles of unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith.
