Hayley Atwell reps The Picture House

British actress Hayley Atwell to lead new film program at The Picture House.

If you’re a fan of PBS, then you’re no doubt enjoying a rebroadcast of “Howards End,”  with Hayley Atwell its luminous center as heroine Margaret Schlegel. (It’s the role that won Emma Thompson an Oscar for the 1992 adaptation of E.M. Forster’s book about class consciousness and destiny.)

Now Atwell is taking on a new role. The British actress will serve as the inaugural ambassador for a new program at The Picture House Regional Film Center in Pelham and now also in Bronxville. (The ribbon-cutting in Bronxville is set for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4.) The program is designed to increase awareness of the nonprofit independent film center. Up first in its virtual film studies class for adults, which is open to TPH members, is a 1 p.m. Feb. 6 Zoom discussion of “American Animals” with Atwell and director Bart Layton. The film focuses on a group of four bored Kentucky friends, who steal a rare art book in a tale that considers the misguided aspects of the American dream.
