March marks WAG’s annual home design issue, so what better month to have our first home design event?
Join us March 27 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at Greystone on Hudson, a 100-acre luxury real estate development in Tarrytown that was once the estate of Josiah W. Macy Jr., a partner of John D. Rockefeller Sr. in Standard Oil. Jennifer Pitman of Rago Arts & Auction Center, WAG’s What’s Collectible? columnist, will be on hand to conduct an “Antiques Roadshow”-style appraisal, so come with a – small – treasure. And I’ll be giving a “Secrets of the Dead”-style mini lecture – another bow to PBS – on the unusual ancient Roman reliquary that was found on the site. (It was in the summer of 2015 that Andy Todd, president of Greystone on Hudson, and his team discovered a marble artifact with a Latin inscription while excavating the site for 6 Carriage Trail. Their exciting find — a funerary pillar of Tiberius Claudius Saturninus, a former slave who collected inheritance taxes for the Roman Emperor Claudius in Greece — is now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art.)
