Hudson Valley artists in spotlight

Hudson Valley artists, including Carla Goldberg, are featured in a Beacon gallery exhibition.

WAG still recalls the memorable visit to the Nelsonville studio of Carla Goldberg. We featured the Hudson Valley artist and her sea-inspired work in a June 2015 profile, at the time learning she was also director of bau (Beacon Artists Union) Gallery in Beacon.

Now, she’s let us know about the latest exhibition at bau, one in which her own work is featured.

Here are the details on the show, as shared by Goldberg:

“Bau gallery presents ‘The Best from the Vault Beacon Art Shortwave Gallery,’ a group show featuring some of the Hudson Valley’s best artists. In 2009, Gary Jacketti opened Beacon Art Shortwave Gallery in Stone Harbor, New Jersey. At the height of the great recession, he took a gamble that the fine artists of the Hudson Valley could find collectors along the gold coast of southern New Jersey. Having just completed his ninth successful season and approaching $1 million dollars in gross sales, Jacketti has introduced the art and artists of the Hudson Valley and beyond to second homeowners and tourists recreating on the Seven Mile Island towns of Avalon and Stone Harbor. The artists in this exhibition include Karlos Carcamo, Kathy Feighery, Thomas Huber, Laura Gurton, Lisa Zukowski, Carla Goldberg, Richard Bruce, Erica Caginalp and Kirsten Lyon. This is the 154th consecutive exhibition at bau Gallery, started in January 2004 and co-founded by Gary Jacketti.”

The opening reception for “The Best from the Vault” will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 7, with the show then continuing through Nov. 5 at bau, 506 Main St. Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
