Dennis Elsas rocks on

Veteran radio personality Dennis Elsas – a past WAG subject and longtime Westchester resident – will appear Oct. 21 at the Emelin Theatre.

WAG has received an update from Dennis Elsas, the veteran radio personality we profiled back in November of 2015.

Elsas, a longtime Rye resident pivotal in the development of progressive FM radio, is offering his tour-de-force presentation, “Rock ’N’ Roll Never Forgets,” on Oct. 21 at the Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck.

WAG caught the multimedia show – which traces not only Elsas’ personal and career history but that of rock-and-roll radio itself – at Rockland Community College when writing our profile, and it was quite the entertaining, enjoyable evening

Elsas captivated the audience as we traveled with him from his early days in Queens, where he’d listen to Top 40 personalities on a transistor radio, through his campus-radio days at Queens College and his professional start at WVOX Radio in New Rochelle. We heard of his pioneering work at WNEW-FM Radio, where Elsas was both on air and in programming – and would broadcast historic interviews with rock legends, including John Lennon and Elton John. Not one to rest on his laurels, Elsas, also a successful voiceover artist, can be heard today on WFUV Radio and on SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Those in the metro area no doubt know his voice, but it’s a special treat to have Elsas take us behind the scenes for the inside stories, candid moments and plenty of welcome nostalgia. Check it out.

The show is set for 8 p.m., with tickets at $20 and $25 ($15 for students). The Emelin is at 153 Library Lane.
