In memory of…

The Axial Theatre in Pleasantville has extended the deadline for submitting applications for its Heisler Scholarship Playwriting Course to March 14.  The scholarship is named in honor of Robert Heisler, an editor and theater critic whose career embraced The Journal News, the Daily News, Newsday and the New York Post.  Heisler, who passed away in 2012 at age 60, was also an advocate for cultivating theater in Westchester County.  (And if I may be permitted a personal note, as he was once my editor, Bob was an all-around nice guy.)

Scholarships will be awarded to two selected applicants, age 18 and over, for two six-week playwriting workshop sessions – a total of 12 classes each.  Applications are available at http://www.axialtheatre.org/scholarship.htm.  Writing samples of either a short play or play sample, not exceeding 20 pages, or five pages of fiction or an essay, must accompany the application.
