Me-how! ‘Cats in Art’ goes 3-D

“Cats in Art: A Pop-Up Book” (Thames & Hudson). This time paper engineer Corina Fletcher has transformed six of her paintings into three-dimensional works of art

Back in May – wait, isn’t it still May or was that a lifetime ago? – we wrote about Susan Herbert’s “Impressionist Cats,” which finds the finicky felines making their way into masterworks by Monet et al.

Now Herbert is at it again with “Cats in Art: A Pop-Up Book” (Thames & Hudson). This time paper engineer Corina Fletcher has transformed six of her paintings into three-dimensional works of art, including interpretations of classic canvases by Jan van Eyck, Sandro Botticelli, Diego Velázquez, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, John Everett Millais and Édouard Manet.

When critics say a work jumps out at you, well, these really do. Whether you’re a cat lover, an art lover – or both – you won’t be able to resist these eye-‘cat’ching creations.
