Voluptuous Venice in a fragrance bottle

Valmont captures the seductive spirit of Venice in a new fragrance

We’ve always loved Valmont, the luxe Swiss skincare line and the intoxicating scents in its Storie Veneziane collection. So our nostrils immediately started twitching when we heard about the launch of the latest fragrance inspired by the romance of Venice and the art of Murano glass.

As with the rest of the Storie Veneziane collection, Mica D’Oro is the product of Valmont owners Sophie and Didier Guillon’s teamwork. Working with Nathalie Lorson, master perfume at Firmenich, Sophie, Valmont’s CEO, has created a fragrance redolent of Chantilly, rum and vanilla, conjuring sailors swaggering through the serpentine streets of Venice, where the Valmont Group recently purchased the historic Palazzo Bonvicini, now home to Fondation Valmont and its rotating art exhibits.

To house the new fragrance, Didier, Valmont’s artistic director, has designed a 24-karat gold bottle with a Murano glass mask, hand-blown by master glassmaker Leonardo Cimolin, that evokes the eternal carnivale spirit of the city.

“Alternating between delectation and decadence, Mica D’Oro celebrates hedonism, extols excess and flirts dangerously with lust,” Sophie says.

And couldn’t we all use a bit of that nowadays?

Mica D’Oro retails for $540 (100ml) and $330 (50ml) at lamaisonvalmont.com.
