Party (John) Hardy

It was in the fall of 2014 that WAG had the time of its life, interviewing the dashing Guy Bedarida, the now-retired creative director/designer at Bali-based jeweler John Hardy, at Bloomingdale’s White Plains for the December issue. http://www.wagmag.com/hale-n-hardy/ Not only did Guy inscribe the inside of our Hardy Naga bracelet – with its twisting silver chain, silver and gold dragon’s head clasp and flaming ruby eyes – but artist Jennifer Lilya did a quick fashion sketch of us with the bracelet that we framed. It remains a memorable day.

Ever since then we’ve been hot for Hardy’s designs so we are delighted to announce that artisans from the company will be on hand for an all-day trunk show at the store Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A brand historian and master artisans will showcase a number of distinctive jewelry making techniques descended from the Royal Courts of Bali, including painting, wax carving, chain weaving and gem setting. Guests will have the opportunity to try their hand at these techniques under the guidance of a brand historian, typically only experienced at the brand’s Ubud, Bali design studio and workshop.

While you’re there, do check out Hardy’s Modern Chain bracelets, which look like woven metal with gold, sterling silver, diamond and black sapphire and black spinel clasps. (The men’s versions are even handsomer and weightier than the Modern Chain styles for women.)

There’s a private cocktail reception from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For reservations, call 914-684-6445. And for more, visit bloomingdales.com and JohnHardy.com.
