Shopping (and doing) ‘Rite’

Shop-Rite customers say thank you.

Mary Connor realized weeks ago that the supermarket workers were just as battered rising to the occasion of the coronavirus as were many first responders. So she hand-assembled an 8-foot wide greeting card for patrons of the Bedford Hills Shop-Rite to sign.

“Sure, the media has recognized this news story,” Connor says, “but I wanted to have something personal – meaningful – as many families in the area, like mine, were raised at dinnertime from meals we prepared courtesy of weekly grocery shopping at this store.

“The area has seen a lot of changes in the supermarket space with new chains taking over locations but Shop-Rite, Bedford Hills, has stayed put, just like a lot of families have even with their kids grown.

I’ve been a weekly customer for 35 years, and I never, ever considered the behind-the scenes effort that gets our groceries on the shelf,” Connor adds.

Now she has, and Shop-Rite knows it.
